We are actively searching for a Controls Engineer to work at our Auburn, AL plant. This person will provide controls leadership and technical support for custom automation projects. We're excited about adding this role to our Engineering team and feel this is a high-impact opportunity and ideal for someone looking to leave their mark on the business. Ideal candidates must be able to work out of the Auburn, AL location.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Conceive, validate, & recommend new or upgraded equipment and process methods, which will advance our global manufacturing and product leadership position.

  • Participate on cross-functional engineering teams to develop and deploy automation equipment to meet project requirements.

  • Develop, configure, debug, and deploy PLCs, and HMIs programs

  • Research and recognize reliable technologies which can be successfully applied to unique filter manufacturing challenges.

  • Demonstrate problem solving methodologies during equipment commissioning and debugging

  • Champion knowledge transfer and training on new processes and equipment.

  • Champion training and validation of best shop practices for electrical equipment repairs and upgrades.

  • Develop and train Donaldson technicians to resolve controls related machine problems

  • Participate with multidisciplinary teams to understand how machine controls design may affect the product quality

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • 2+ years of experience working in PLC driven manufacturing facility/ controls engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated hardware experience with PLC, Machine Safety, VFD, relay logic, field wiring, motion control, vision systems, and pneumatics.

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and controls systems in an operational environment

  • Strong experience with programming Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley platforms, Siemens a plus.

  • Experience with Networking, IT infrastructure, database reporting, industry 4.0.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully complete projects on time and within budget.

  • Communicate effectively with vendors and internal cross-functional teams, inspire others with creative thinking.

  • Experience using AutoCAD Electrical for industrial control panel design

  • Experience in applying of UL508A, OSHA, NEC and applicable NFPA codes
