Job Description:

As the Donation Receiver you will help facilitate the effective and efficient day-to-day operation of the Thrift Store ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do:



  • Greet potential clients interested in construction salvage merchandise being friendly, responsive, and helpful.
  • Receive donations and provide receipts for donated goods to the donors.
  • Greet and assist all donors and potential donors in a friendly manner.
  • Assist with sorting, displaying, and storing of donated items according to store procedures. There will be specific attention to seasonal items and bric-a-brac.
  • Assist with keeping the sorting, storage and receiving areas clean and orderly. Garbage taken out and floors swept.
  • Assist with the pulling, removal, and recycling of expired color of the week items.
  • Learn and adhere to all store policies and procedures.


  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership.


Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: None

Certifications: Must complete Safe-From-Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Must be able to positively interact with the public and donors.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a store/warehouse environment; may require weekend and evening work
