Global Market Director: Decorative, Exterior & Interior - Automotive Coatings

The Global Market Director: Decorative, Exterior & Interior role is a critical leadership role in Automotive Coatings aimed at bringing increased global focus on delivering profitable growth for our global decorative coatings technologies. The position reports to the Global Head of Strategic Marketing and is a member of the Automotive Coatings Extended Leadership Team (xLT). It is a pivotal position at the interface of our commercial, technical and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the strategic plan for portfolio optimization & rationalization (Preferred Product Offering) in collaboration with the Product Development and R&D teams.
• Work with global business leaders, sales, engineering contacts and technical service teams to ensure offerings meet market needs and support growth objectives.
• Creating short term action plans to deliver on the global strategy, mobilizing cross functional teams to align and accelerate the focus areas.
• Drive pipeline growth of decorative technologies across regions to ensure robust opportunities for sustained profitable growth.
• Leverage a one-PPG approach for selling complete coatings systems.
• Drive the deployment of effective pricing strategies leveraging value selling to maximize segment profitability.
• Interface with Global Operations leaders on matters related to manufacturing and supply chain capability early in the development plan for new technologies.
• Ensure build-out of quality sales collateral/tools in collaboration with product management and marketing communications.
• Initiate and lead the change management process related to sourcing and formulation changes.
• Liaise with procurement effectively to understand the dynamic of the supplier base and align on purchasing strategy (e.g. qualification of new suppliers).
• Lead competitive landscape reviews and benchmarking programs on a regular cadence.
• Align the segment strategy with the Sustainability agenda and related growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience of working in B2B marketing and business, five or more years with direct management experience.
• Technical, Marketing, or Business degree or equivalent required, MBA a plus
• Solid business and commercial acumen and strategic thinking ability (technical knowledge a plus)
• Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain fundamentals
• Excellent presentation and influencing skills, capable of driving change internally and externally
• Experience working in a global business environment
• Ability to lead and successfully work with staff of different cultures and education
• Proven ability to achieve results through influence rather than direct management of a team
