Job Description

Pay Rate:

$19.00 per Hour

Schedule Details:

Monday through Friday 20-30 hours per week, flexible times between 8am and 4pm

POSTION SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Family Ambassador to join the Parent Partnership Program at Elwyn Early Learning Services. The Family Ambassador will facilitate a seamless transition into kindergarten for families and students. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing a culture of empathy, acceptance, collaboration, and inclusion within schools while championing a strength-based approach. You will be responsible for connecting families to essential resources, fostering effective collaboration between schools and families, and encouraging continued support throughout a child's educational journey.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Resource Facilitation:



  • Connect families with the necessary resources, services, and information required for a successful transition into kindergarten.
  • Identify and address potential challenges to ensure a smooth start to the educational
  • Develop and maintain a resource library of current, helpful supports specific to the Chester area.


Enhanced Collaboration:

  • Foster stronger collaboration between schools and families, promoting a shared sense of responsibility for student success.
  • Facilitate open communication, workshops, and events that encourage meaningful engagement and interaction.
  • Promote parent participation throughout the IEP process, including attending IEP meetings as requested.
  • Attend monthly (PLC) Professional Learning Community meetings


Cultivate School Culture:

  • Promote a school culture rooted in empathy, acceptance, inclusion, and
  • Work with educators and administrators to integrate a strength-based approach that recognizes and harnesses the unique abilities of each student and family.


Peer Support and Learning:

  • Implement innovative models such as the Parent Cafe Model and the Parent to Parent of PA program, designed to facilitate peer support and relationship-building among
  • Create opportunities for shared experiences that contribute to a sense of


Sustainable Family Engagement:

  • Maintain and elevate a high level of sustainable family engagement by developing and executing strategies that encourage ongoing involvement in students' education and school activities.
  • Support families and other Elwyn staff by providing training on various family engagement topics.


Knowledge Transfer:

  • Bridge the gap between Early Intervention (EI) professionals and school-age systems by linking the knowledge, resources, and skills that families and professionals possess.



Resource Integration:

  • Break down "silos" of resources and supports by establishing connections and collaborations with community organizations, service providers, and relevant
  • Ensure families have access to a comprehensive network of
  • Create and maintain appropriate data logs and systems, as requested
  • Research and share supplemental support and resources with team


Family Leadership:

  • Empower families to become informed decision-makers in their child's
  • Equip them with the tools and knowledge needed to take an active role in shaping educational experiences.
  • Provide information on resources and


Continued Relationships:

  • Cultivate deep, enduring relationships between families and providers throughout the child's educational career.
  • Encourage a seamless transition from early childhood to school-age

DIRECT REPORTS: None

CONTACTS: Elwyn personnel, parents, guardians, advocates, community behavior health workers, providers of early intervention, Chester Upland School District personnel, ID agencies, community agencies, legislative stakeholders on local and state levels.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:



  • High School Diploma or


Experience:

  • Direct knowledge of Chester Early Intervention System
  • Have a family member receiving early intervention services in


Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal
  • Demonstrated communication and office skills, with basic proficiency in Microsoft
  • Ability to work in a team environment and handle conflict in a calm, professional
  • Demonstrated group leadership
  • Fluency in a second language is a


Other Requirements:

  • Must have a current, valid driver's license in the state of residence, three (3) years driving experience, and an acceptable driving record.
