QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Proficiency in the English language, in accordance with Minnesota state statute
Highly Qualified status (HQ), defined by one of the following:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Special Education Paraeducator is responsible for assisting teaching personnel or special services staff in the supervision and instruction of special education students. Duties include classroom support, clerical tasks, assisting students with special health care needs, and fostering development in daily living and behavioral skills.
SALARY:
$18.50 & $20.50 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist in the implementation and follow-through of educational programs developed through the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process
Assist students with feeding, lifting/positioning, bathroom needs, personal hygiene, and swimming
Support student physical and behavioral management, including removing or restraining students for disruptive behavior when necessary
Supervise and assist students during instructional and non-instructional activities
Maintain awareness of student activities and behaviors; communicate rules, expectations, and consequences
Promote School District rules, policies, procedures, Mission Statement, and Core Values
Assist in developing and maintaining a positive learning environment
Adhere to federal, state, and district student data confidentiality and privacy laws
Observe, monitor, and communicate student progress to teachers
Perform record keeping and clerical functions to support the administrator or teacher
Perform other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods; may be exposed to adverse weather conditions
Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing
Light Work: exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly to move objects
