Position Summary
This position will work closely with the Department Chair in the day-to-day operations of the public dental clinic located at the Dallas College El Centro Paramount Building. This is a full-time position. Primary responsibilities include infection control coordination including maintaining clinic logs, marketing and advertising, risk management and analysis, practice management, appointment scheduling, ordering, maintaining equipment health and scheduling service calls, inventory, ordering, and supply stocking.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Reprocessing: build office protocols alongside the Department Chair, responsible for all testing, inspections, cleaning, logs, reporting, and maintenance of equipment in accordance with federal, local, and state regulations. Waterline: responsible for inspections, maintenance, testing, and reporting of water line in accordance with federal, local, and state regulations. Medications: responsible for inspecting, logging, and replacing medications on the clinic floor in in accordance with federal, local, and state regulations. Review and revise clinical infection prevention protocols that are in alignment with federal, state, and local recommendations and regulations. Ensure infection prevention policies meet World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC), Organization for Safety Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP), American Dental Association (ADA), and American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) recommendations. Ensure infection prevention policies meet Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Health and Human Services, Texas Occupational Code, and Texas State Board of Dental Examiners regulations. Stay abreast of Dallas County health trends and make recommendations for changes to infection prevention policies based on community health trends. Strong organizational and analytical skills with accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals internal/external to Dallas College. Strong knowledge and experience providing effective customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze existing protocols and policies. Make recommendations to the Department Chair for change using evidence-based science. Establish protocols to minimize risks associated with clinic software, procedures, ledgers, and record keeping. Maintain the health of the equipment in clinic. Identify repair needs, log the incident, and schedule service calls. Maintain positive relationship with dental manufacturers and distributors used by the college and work them to establish best practices for the clinic. Ensure clinic policies and procedures are in compliance with all federal (HIPAA, OSHA, FDA, EPSA), state (Texas State Board of Dental Examiners), and local (Dallas County) regulations and recommendations. Work alongside the Department Chair to build best practice policies and procedures. Participate in strategic planning with the Department Chair. Work with the clinic's software manufacturer to ensure system is up to date and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. Archive patient's that will not return to clinic. Performs other duties as assigned. Ensure the patient schedule is accurate to ensure student learning is not interrupted. Maintain accurate financial ledgers. Work alongside the Department Chair to assist in providing ongoing student and staff training in practice protocols and maintain current clinical training logs. Keep an accurate inventory of supplies. Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) or more years' experience as a Registered Dental Assistant, Certified Dental Assistant, or Registered Dental Hygienist. Preferred: experience in managing a health care facility. Bachelor or Master's degree in healthcare administration or healthcare management. Official transcript will be required. Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
