POSITION SUMMARY

Sony Corporation of America currently has an opening for Sr. Research Intern in our R&D center US Laboratory located in San Jose, CA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented research team in multidisciplinary efforts to develop Sony's future products and services. We're inventing the technology and products that inspire customers all over the world, and soon you could be working to bring your ideas to life! This internship is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in exciting entertainment industry applications as well as cutting-edge research experience in the field of computer graphics, animation, and character control with latest AI & Machine Learning technologies. -- Working location is flexible.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research, develop and evaluate state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms for the next generation AI/ML based Computer Graphics and Robotics for 3D Animation.

  • Apply software engineering skills to identify challenges and future directions for our research.

  • Learn, collaborate, and network alongside world-class researchers and creators; present your findings and contribute to the industry-leading entertainment technology community.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

Your qualifications and experience should include:

  • M.S., Ph.D. candidate, or Post-doc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or M.S. with research experience equivalent to Ph.D.

  • Excellent fundamental research background and demonstrated record of innovation in the theory of AI, Machine Learning, Computer Graphics, or Robotics related areas.

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in Physics based motion generation for 3D character control.

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in Deep Learning fundamentals and Reinforcement Learning.

  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills

  • Strong professional software development experience

  • Strong familiarity with game development workflow.

  • Strong familiarity with neural network training, finetuning workflow

  • Strong familiarity with modern Python and C++

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experiences in human object interaction

  • Knowledge and experience in limitation learning and skill learning

  • Knowledge and experience in machine learning based robot control

  • Knowledge and experiences in generative models

  • Familiarity with Isaac-Gym, Blender, Unreal Engine, Unity, MuJoCo, or related software platforms

The target hourly rate for this internship is $50.00 per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
