Engineering Project Manager
The Engineering Project Manager designs and develops components and systems per customer request, modifying existing designs. She/he applies engineering principles to develop mechanical or electronic/electrical products/systems that meet customer technical/functional specifications as well as manufacturing cost/efficiency requirements. He/she conducts mathematical modelling to determine if proposed designs are technically feasible.
What You'll Do:
Review customer design requests, specifications, manuals and other data to evaluate the feasibility & cost of requested system/product
Defines customer product requirements, completes design specifications and plans accordingly to meet customer requirements
Assists with project management (i.e. Obtain, evaluate competitive bids and negotiate with suppliers; Assist with production plans for projects, taking quality requirements and contract obligations into account)
Create production drawings, both structural and sheet metal to meet system design
Regularly provides equipment/system/process/training recommendations to improve reliability and/or performance. Follows thru to completion. Fully participates in continuous improvement activities
Resolves production problems that arise with manufacturing team
All other duties as assigned
What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred or relevant degree in Physics, Industrial Science or other technical discipline training/education/experience in mechanical &/or electrical design for systems/products/assemblies
Can draft using either AutoCAD LT, Inventor or SolidWorks
Exposure to or the ability to program PLC's and HMI's:
Siemens Simatic S7
Allen Bradley RS Logix
Red Lion
Maple System
Demonstrated technical expertise in specified product segment
Computer software skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe PDF)
Ability to work in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment
Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual on projects
Highly organized, with attention to detail
Sense of urgency; responds to requests in a timely manner
Strong (email, phone, web and in person) communication and customer service skills. (Prior experience in a customer service role preferred)
