About the Role

As a Clinical Documentation Specialist, you'll play a critical role in improving the quality and accuracy of inpatient medical records. By collaborating with physicians and staff, you'll ensure proper documentation for coding, risk, and severity assessments.

What You Bring

Education




  • A degree or certification in one of the following:


    • Nursing: Bachelor's, associate, or diploma from an accredited School of Nursing.
    • NP or PA: Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies or Master's in Nursing from an AANP or ANCC accredited school
    • Health Information Management: RHIT or RHIA certification accredited by CAHIIM.





Work Experience:

RN: Requires a minimum of 3 years Registered Nurse clinical experience in similarly complex acute care setting. Minimum of 2 years as a Clinical Documentation Specialist required. In lieu of complex acute care experience, a minimum of 3 years of CDI experience, and /or other relevant clinical experience may be considered.

PA or NP: Requires a minimum of 3 years Physician Assistant or NP experience in a similarly complex acute care setting. Minimum of 2 years as a Clinical Documentation Specialist required. In lieu of complex acute care experience, a minimum of 3 years of CDI experience, and /or other relevant clinical experience may be considered

RHIT/RHIA: Requires minimum of 3 years with acute inpatient coding experience. Minimum of 2 years as a Clinical Documentation Specialist required. In lieu of acute inpatient coding experience, a minimum of 4 years of CDI experience, and /or relevant clinical experience may be considered.

Licensure/Certification




  • RN or NP: Active license in Maryland or a compact state.
  • PA: Active licensure by the Maryland Board of Physicians and NCCPA certification.
  • RHIT/RHIA: AHIMA certification and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) designation required.

Salary Range: Minimum $33.61 per hour - Maximum $55.51 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
