JOB SUMMARY

Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for supplier performance, supporting strategic objectives, and ensuring compliance to Senior's QMS processes. Supplier QE will provide engineering support using statistical analysis, 6 sigma tools, along with other methods to improve the quality of material delivered to both Senior's manufacturing facilities in Bartlett, IL and Saltillo, MX. The supplier quality engineer will additionally provide launch support for new programs, engineering changes, and process improvement efforts to obtain the company's goals. Approval of suppliers, including onsite assessments will be required.

KEY RESULT AREAS



  1. Internal/External Quality Issues

    • Lead or assist in root-cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
    • Supplier support for the operations' teams.
    • Understanding of GD&T, 6 sigma, 8D analysis, 5 - Why, amongst other methods to facilitate corrective actions and process improvement.


  2. Internal Audit Program and QMS

    • Participate in internal audit program and perform audits as scheduled.
    • Ensure all non-conformances are closed properly per Senior's QMS.
    • Site assessments and supplier approvals are a key aspect of the role.


  3. LPA/Document Control/MRB

    • Maintain LPA Admin system with assigning non-conformances and maintain schedule.
    • Update documents through the appropriate process.
    • Material review board ownership as it relates to non-conforming supplier material.


  4. Continuous Improvement

    • Collect data and perform analysis to improve supplier's current processes.
    • Work with supplier engineering as support to implement changes, which effectively improve the QMS.
    • Facilitate suppliers' need for projects and activities that support company's strategic objectives.


  5. PPAP Documentation and APQP launch support

    • Prepare appropriate PPAP documentation as required for changes to current supplied components.
    • Assist program launch initiatives by supporting APQP assignments and supplier validation requirements


  6. Purchasing and Supplier Evaluation

    • Teaming with the material buyers, purchasing agents, and other launch team members, evaluate suppliers based on delivery and quality.
    • Ensure compliance to commitments and provide guidance to the supply base in ensuring improvements in any aspect affecting Senior's ability to operate effectively.




EDUCATION



  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field preferred, or a technical degree with relevant work experience.


EXPERIENCE



  • About 5+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.

    • Automotive manufacturing environment preferred.


  • Knowledge of PPAP, 5-why, and 8D methodology.


SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES



  1. Technical skills

    1. Microsoft Office, Minitab, GD&T, statistical analysis, and the ability to read blueprints.


  2. Functional competencies

    1. RCA, IATF 16949, QS/TS, ISO 14001, SPC.


  3. Business Competencies

    1. Knowledge of industrial or automotive manufacturing




WORKING CONDITIONS



  1. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Some kneeling or reaching may be required.
  2. Schedule: Standard business hours, with occasional after-hours or weekend work for maintenance or emergency response.
