The Director, External Reporting and Technical Accounting is responsible for:
- Leading the preparation and timely filing of SEC filings and other regulatory filings.
- Ensuring strict compliance with US GAAP and technical accounting standards.
The Director reports to the VP, Corporate Accounting & Reporting and has high visibility and collaborates closely with the CFO, Controller, investor relations, auditors, legal counsel, corporate communications, other corporate functions, and operating groups' leadership to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial disclosures and to drive strategic initiatives that enhance the organization's financial reporting framework. Essential Functions:
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the preparation, review and filing of Forms 10-Q/K and associated 8-Ks, ensuring that all filings are materially accurate and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Financial Reporting Oversight: Direct the preparation of financial statements and other financial data for earnings releases, audit committee communications and certain management presentations.
- Disclosure Committee Leadership: Serve as a leading member and technical expert for the Disclosure Committee, responsible for evaluating and ensuring the appropriateness of disclosures in financial reporting.
- Regulatory Compliance Management: Monitor, assess, and drive the global implementation of new regulations and accounting pronouncements, ensuring the organization remains compliant with evolving standards.
- Policy Development: Lead the technical writing and updating of accounting policies, ensuring they reflect best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Technical Accounting Expertise: Prepare comprehensive technical accounting memoranda to support the financial accounting and reporting treatment for new, complex, or unusual transactions.
- Global Accounting Advisor: Guide and support global finance and accounting leadership on US GAAP technical accounting matters, including contract accounting and revenue recognition.
- External Collaboration: Serve as the primary global contact for external auditors and advisors on significant accounting and reporting matters, facilitating effective communication during annual audits.
- Acquisition Integration Support: Act as a key member of acquisition integration teams, aligning integration efforts with US GAAP accounting rules and Parker policies.
- Benefits Financial Statement Oversight: Oversee the accurate preparation of savings plan and pension plan financial statements, including associated SEC filings (11-K) and DOL 5500 filings.
- Internal Controls Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal controls for areas of responsibility, fostering a culture of accountability and precision.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performance team of accounting professionals, promoting collaboration and excellence in external reporting and technical accounting.
- Process Improvement Initiatives: Continually identify opportunities for automation and simplification of processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; an advanced degree (MBA or Master's in Accounting) is preferred.
- Certification: Active CPA license is strongly preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of ten years of public accounting or equivalent industry experience in external reporting, with significant experience in SEC reporting.
- Technical Expertise: Strong expertise in US GAAP and technical accounting principles, with a proven track record of applying these principles in a corporate setting.
- Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership, teamwork, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Systems Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of financial systems and adept at learning new systems.
- Attention to Detail: A keen attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work.
