University Development's purpose is to support the mission of the university by raising private resources to enhance financial support for students, faculty, programs, and facilities. University Development provides leadership and centralized services to all development offices throughout the University, serving as a focal point for annual giving, application development and IT support; campaign management; constituent programs; corporate and foundation relations; donor relations; gift planning; gift services; industry relations; marketing/communications; parents giving; principal gifts; prospect management, research and analytics; regional programs; scholarships and student aid; talent management; university events; and volunteer engagement.

Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station in Chapel Hill, NC.

The Senior Analyst, Prospect Research is a member of University Development's prospect development department and applies advanced analytical and critical thinking skills to strategic business opportunities associated with the university's fundraising enterprise. The department's twin goals are to provide timely, high-quality insights and knowledge to support a variety of fundraising strategies and to facilitate the movement of prospects through the pipeline, and its core competencies are working with information, building relationships, and delivering effective solutions.

To advance the priorities of the university-wide development community - known as OneCarolina - the Senior Analyst provides strategic services to fundraisers, which may include one or more key elements of prospect research: building pipeline, cause-based and non-alumni prospect identification, relationship mapping, up-to-date research on high-value prospects, prospect alerts, wealth screenings, due diligence, and managing prospect pipeline, leads, and pools.

Specific duties may include:

1.) Identify prospects to build pipeline, map prospect relationships, and complete prospecting projects.
2.) Conduct biographical, wealth, financial, and philanthropic research on major gift ($100K+) and principal gift ($5M+) prospects, while collaborating on how this information can be applied to fundraising strategy.
3.) Transform raw data into actionable business intelligence that is timely and clear for the OneCarolina development community.
4.) Respond to research requests in an agile (i.e. rapid) manner.
5.) Distribute prospect alerts, complete wealth screenings, and conduct due diligence.
6.) Collaboratively manage prospect pipeline, leads, and pools.
7.) Develop and maintain effective relationships with fundraisers and collaborators across OneCarolina.
8.) Leverage business intelligence and analytics capabilities to benefit the university development community.
9.) Maintain and ensure the integrity of the data within the database.
10.) Develop and maintain knowledge of applicable information technology and how data are structured within the development database.
11.) Identify business needs and develop appropriate products and strategies to drive business outcomes.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Demonstrated experience with - or aptitude for - delivering client-facing services, building effective relationships with internal clients and collaborators, and leveraging business intelligence and analytics capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in a complex fundraising organization situated within the higher education or academic medicine sector. Familiarity with UNC-Chapel Hill. Familiarity with Blackbaud CRM. Knowledge of prospect development principles, practices, and tools of the trade. Experience with research, database, spreadsheet, query, statistical, data management, visualization, and survey tools. Curious and creative. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with various constituencies. Ability to collaborate with colleagues. Client service, problem-solving, and project management skills. Strategic and analytical thinker. Organized, with attention to detail. Ability to meet deadlines, be self-motivated, work independently, show flexibility, and adapt to shifting priorities. Team player with proven relationship, consulting, negotiating, and influencing skills. Readiness to cultivate department culture of client alignment, colleagueship, innovation, and learning.
