General Information:

James Madison University Facilities Management department is seeking a Capital Outlay Project Engineer to join our team! This position is responsible for the management of planning, design, and construction of concurrent assigned projects as well as the management of consultants, and administration of project accomplishment assuring compliance with assigned project scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Successfully monitor the construction activities of major capital outlay programs and projects
-Serve as responsible party to developing and manage minor capital outlay and non-capital outlay projects
-Serve as the function facilitator and problem solver communicating and coordinating project construction issues during construction and closeout of assigned projects
-Provide administration of the internal and external review of design and construction documents during projects
-Inspection duties for major projects, providing technical and constructability reviews of projects during design and working drawing reviews
-Serve as a contact and control point for assigned projects and as a liaison between supervision and the project.

Qualifications:

Qualified applicants must have:
*Driver's License
*Extensive knowledge of building and infrastructure design and construction
*Knowledge of the Bureau of Capital Outlay Management processes and procedures
*Ability to manage multiple concurrent major projects with respect to technical, professional and fiscal issues
*Skills in conflict resolution and negotiation
