Position Description
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions |
Under the general guidance of the PI and Nursing Program Director, this position will require crucial leadership and organizational skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop, implement, and manage student support services to enhance the academic and personal success of students enrolled in the expanded Master of Nursing program. This role requires a dynamic individual with a thorough understanding of nursing education, especially in Long Term Care (
LTC), and a commitment to student success. The faculty member will oversee the progression of the program students selected for stipends. The faculty member will develop relationships with
LTC settings in the region and recruit clinical faculty within partner organizations.
- Design and implement Long Term Care (LTC) modules for students in accordance with the policies of the University. Develop scoring criteria and feedback mechanisms to improve modules. Monitor student performance/competency and provide feedback to meet learning objectives.
- Develop 20-hours LTC simulation with scoring criteria and debrief activities.
- Develop and help facilitate Continuing Education units (CEUs) in geriatrics for practicing nurses in LTC. Ensure course content reflects current best practices, evidence-based care, and emerging trends in geriatric health i.e. "Evidence based practice in LTC."
- Develop and facilitate implementation of training modules for all Pacific nursing faculty.
- Establish partnerships with additional Skilled Nursing Facilities and other long term care sites.
- Assist with clinical placements in LTC settings.
- Assist with recruiting preceptors/clinical faculty in LTC settings.
- Work closely with PIs and data analyst for program evaluation and implementation.
- Coordinate required reports to the funding agency with Director of Assessment, Accreditation, and Sponsored Projects
- Participate in LTC local, regional, and/or national organizations related to delivery of geriatric nursing care.
- Provide advising for quality improvement projects for program students selected for stipends.
- Coordinate tutoring, mentoring, and peer support programs to assist WEP students in achieving their academic goals.
- Monitor WEP student progress and intervene as necessary to ensure student retention and success.
- Teaching as assigned.
- Coordinate grant activities with faculty across the curriculum.
- Participate in the admissions process for the nursing program.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Doctoral degree preferred (DNP or PhD) in nursing or a related subject, with a focus on geriatrics or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft platform (Word, Access, Excel, Publisher) and SPSS or other similar data management and analysis programs.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Two (2) years or more experience working on health or education programs with academic and community organizations.
- Must have experience with budget management.
- Ability to manage assessment and evaluation tasks associated with the grant.
- Must have excellent networking and communication (oral and written) skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and healthcare partners.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices in their work.
- Must assume responsibility and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Experience with program development and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university or healthcare setting.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Work performed mostly during standard business hours. Work may require occasional evening and weekend hours to complete tasks. Some events on weekends/evenings are to be expected and will be scheduled with advance notice. Regular travel required to Clinical sites in the Central Valley.
Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record. |
Hiring Range |
$140,000.00 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
