Purpose of Position

Maintain oil and gas lease records, prepare specialized reports or land inventories, prepare and process Production Sharing Agreements and Contracts for Development, review lease expiry reports, participate in the coordination of Oil and Gas Lease Sales, prepare more advanced free-hold surface and minerals documentation, and verify documentation for internal drilling reports as part of managing Continuous Development Agreements.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare, track and store all oil and gas agreements related to the operation and development of PUF minerals, such as Oil and Gas Leases, Drilling and Development Agreements, Production Sharing Agreements, and Contract for Development Agreements
  • Work closely with Land Admin for the procurement of agreements, title information, and research well production
  • Use contract systems and GIS to run reports and analyze current drilling, completion and production activity to assist landmen with ensuring operator compliance with all agreements
  • Work closely with other teams within University Lands, including but not limited to, IT and GIS teams, Accounting, Regulatory, and Land Administration in order to maintain day-to-day operations and responsibilities
  • Manage all assignments and other documents to ensure accurate ownership records for lessees and operators on PUF lands
  • Assist in administrative duties for PUF lands lease sales
  • Responsible for assisting landmen with special projects as needed
  • Maintain working relationships with lessees and operators on PUF leases, trade associations and industry groups, and government and regulatory associations
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of: oil and gas leasing, land and title, and RRC rules and regulations
  • Ability to research problems and understand legal terminology
  • Ability to communicate well and work closely with team members
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of related experience
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for one year of college (30 semester hours) on a year-for-year basis
Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of related experience

  • May work around standard office conditions
Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Participation in TRS is mandatory.
