EnSafe is accepting applications for a Contract Construction Health and Safety Specialist to support our client's construction site in Paso Robles, California.

This position will start out with as a 12-month assignment with potential for extension.

What We Are Looking For

A skilled Construction Health & Safety Specialist who can offer adept technical support and ensure safety compliance across construction projects. The ideal candidate has a thorough comprehension of OSHA regulatory and compliance standards and applies the standards through toolbox meetings, training sessions, audits, and documentation. Their primary responsibilities will include enforcing our client's Health and Safety Plans and providing vigilant safety oversight to facilitate large-scale construction endeavors.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Daily morning debriefing with subcontractors.
  • Tracking completion of weekly Construction Inspection Forms and gathering data for reporting based off information found during inspections.
  • Aiding in creation of new site documentation including, but not limited to: LOTO Procedures, Toolbox Talks, Machine Guarding, Confined Space, and other client Technical Standards.
  • Assisting with all orientation and training to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Gathering and organizing data for reports.
  • Ensuring that site and Corporate Safety Data Sheet database is updated.
  • Assisting with audits, assessments, surveys, etc. of the various Health and Safety programs such as: Excavation, Confined Spaces, Fall Protection, PPE, Rigging, Cranes, etc.
  • Maintaining recording keeping for near misses, first aid, property damage, and incidents beyond first aid.
  • Collecting and filing all permits and JHA's submitted to the General Contractor.
  • Performing daily construction tours of the site to ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Providing timely feedback to the internal customer or Environmental concerns or safety issues brought up by internal customers.
  • Attending trainings for EPA and OSHA for personal development if requested.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • 10 years of work experience of construction and occupational health and safety
  • California OSHA 30-Hour or OSHA 510
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Working knowledge of California/OSHA regulations
  • One of the following Board of Certified Safety Professionals' Certifications:
      • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
      • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
      • Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OSHT)
      • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)
      • Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC)
      • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
      • Master Safety Professional (MSP)
      • Certified Safety Director (CSD)
  • Working knowledge of health and safety hazards associated with various environmental and construction-related activities, such as working around heavy machinery; fall protection; excavation and trenching; electrical and mechanical systems; tools; crane rigging/lifting; heat stress; confined spaces; elevated work; hazardous and toxic contaminants; flammable and combustible materials; demolitions; hot work; etc.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation
