Pharmacy services, especially in oncology, are rapidly developing with many new therapies being approved for management of cancers. They are also the catalyst for changes in the requirements and standards regarding oncology care. Compass Oncology is looking for a Clinical Pharmacist to join our team, and help our practice stay on the cutting edge of cancer care and research. Managing the patients receiving these therapies requires finely honed skills in order to optimize safety and efficacy. A pharmacist with over 5 years of experience including leadership and project management will find success in this role. Oncology experience is a must.

Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours M-F

Location: West Cancer Center (Tigard, Oregon)

Salary Range: $123,281- $191,547 salaried

**Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise as well as internal employee equity considerations.



JOB SCOPE:

Collaborate with the director of pharmacy services to support the oncology infusion centers and participate in clinical medication and treatment review, drug management strategies, clinical education and clinical research. Expanding projects like USP 800 compliance, and strategic workflow efficiencies for safety. Interact with providers and other health care professionals to provide general and patient specific medication information, including specific clinical activities to ensure safe drug delivery. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


Responsibilities

Pharmacy/Admixture and Clinical Infusion Team Support

Support pharmacy/admixture services, including workflow efficiencies, and daily activities in pharmacy and clean room(s)

Support and assist with development and maintenance of USP 797/800 compliance

Review of medication orders for safety, accuracy and adherence to clinical guidelines

Communicate clinical interventions as a member of the healthcare team

Participate in monitoring patient response to therapies for desired therapeutic outcomes. Evaluates the significance of signs and symptoms relative to disease processes and recommends modifications in drug therapy.

Actively participate in medication management strategies, including implementation, measurement and follow up.

Adhere to policies and procedures

Lead pharmacy projects with admixture technicians and other staff as directed.

Clinical Medication & Treatment Review

Team member of Value-based Care Initiatives

Help establish Drug Specific Protocols

Active member of practice Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee

Provider/Nursing/Pharmacy Education

Lead and participate in pharmacy educational programs to providers and nursing teams

Clinical Research

Train to clinical trials and ensure adherence to protocols with respect to investigational product management.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited school of pharmacy, Pharm. D. strongly preferred.
  • Pharmacy licensure (Licensed Registered Pharmacist) Oregon required. Oregon & Washington licensing preferred.
  • Current BCOP (Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist) or eligible to complete within 3 years of hire.

Experience/Training:

  • Minimum (5) years of experience as registered pharmacist, with experience in oncology or other specialty.
  • Strong clinical oncology pharmacy knowledge & experience.
  • Experience in a pharmacy with I.V. skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to professionalism and dedicated desire to advance patient care.
  • Experience in outpatient oncology and integrated practice associated retail pharmacy preferred.
  • Flexibility to travel between clinics as needed, requiring reliable transportation.
