Compass Oncology - the Northwest's Largest Private Practice Oncology Center - is looking for a Lead Pharmacy Admixture Technician at our West Cancer Clinic located in Tigard, Oregon. This person in this position will help prepare, maintain, and deliver medications for our amazing patients. Employment Type: Full-Time, 40 Hours M-F Location: West Cancer Center (Tigard, Oregon) Salary Range: $27.38-$39.60 Per Hour **Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise as well as internal employee equity considerations. SCOPE:
Under minimum supervision of a physician working within a clinic admixture room, oversees the admixture operations and actions of Admixture Technicians in all technical, nonjudgemental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, and record keeping and inventory control. Assists in the implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Assists in the development, implementation, and review of quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the activities of other Admixture Technicians and nursing staff in the preparation, admixture, dosage calculation, and verification of all medication orders.
- Supervises documentation and dissemination of drug information, MSDS sheets, and related materials.
- Ensures the correct storage and disposal of all medications.
- Ensures the proper cleaning and maintenance of I.V. hoods and other equipment.
- Assists in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives in consultation with the supervisor.
- Monitors and informs pharmacy staff of new drug regulations.
- Acts as a resource on charging and billing procedures.
- Under the direction of a licensed physician, assumes responsibility for dispensing all medications at site clinic and acts as resource for all sites.
- Assists in the implementation of drug control procedures for all sites of service.
- Takes corrective action as necessary.
- Participates in the selection and training/orientation of departmental staff.
- Maintains responsibility for hiring, termination, and performance review of staff. Ensures proper training of all Admixture Technicians and assists in the yearly clinical certification of all RN's to establish clinical knowledge and ability regarding admixture technique and protocols.
- Supervises pharmacy inventory controls, assuring proper inventory levels, pricing, drug outages, recalls, etc.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with accreditation, quality assurance, legal and other regulatory requirements.
- Acts as an educational resource for Admixture Technicians and other professional staff. Participates in pharmacy teaching and in-service programs.
- Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence, and compiles statistics for administrative, financial and regulatory purposes. Receives new drug education to remain abreast of new information and informs admixture and clinical staff.
- Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical and clinical staff. Oversees the daily activities of Admixture Technicians.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification from accredited Pharmacy Technician school.
Experience/Training:
- Minimum seven years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Previous Admixture experience required especially in oncology strongly preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred
- Flexibility to travel between clinics as needed, requiring reliable transportation.
