The Salvation Army Veterans Residence located in St. Louis, Missouri, is looking for a VA Case manager. The position is expected to advance and support the Mission of The Salvation Army. It will supervise and coordinate the activities of those veterans residing in the Transitional Housing Grant Per Diem.

This is a full-time position 40 hours per week with starting pay of $50,000 annually.

Essential Functions



  1. Professionally complete case management functions such as intake, assessments, care plan, progress notes, case coordination notes, case management function documents, discharge summary, and post discharge contacts within required timelines.
  2. Complete all documentation, reports, etc. using professional language for the field of practice.
  3. Complete and provide a daily service record sheet to the supervisor and complete monthly, quarterly and annual outcome measurement reports.
  4. Maintain up to date client files utilizing professionally established practices for file maintenance.
  5. Conduct case management contacts as required and follow-up case coordination to facilitate the process of clients meeting their goals.
  6. Conduct a weekly class that incorporates life skills, employment skills, community resources for veterans, etc. and document as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human service/social service field or related area plus one years of work experience is required. Experience working with recovering substance abusers and veterans is a plus. Combination of education and work experience will be considered. Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Recognized Associate Substance Abuse Counselor (RASAC) or LPC or LCSW is a plus. Requires some computer word processing, spreadsheet and email experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; understanding of the homeless and chemically dependent veteran population. Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time and perform well with minimum supervision. Must demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment.

Physical and Working Conditions

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment to include using a computer, answering phones, etc. Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. There will be times the individual is frequently in and out of vehicles.
