Resident Engineers are 'hands-on,' providing operational support services that empower our customers to get the most from our industry-leading products. You will apply your technical knowledge to optimize customer networks, proactively mitigate risks, test and deploy new software and hardware, and delve into hot issues. The Resident Engineer will engage individually or as part of a more significant customer Network Operations Team, providing on-site support to our customers. Remote US working from both home and on-site locations with 20% travel. Skills and Experience:
- Candidates for this role MUST have a minimum of 5-7 years' experience providing implementation and technical support of networking automation products in WAN or ISP environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with virtualization, Linux systems, messaging platforms, and network configuration protocols to provide holistic support for our client's evolving infrastructure.
- Configuration, testing and deployment experience in WAN environments with a strong background in the following:
- IGP protocols and design (OSPF, ISIS) for both IPv4 and IPv6
- BGP (including routing-policies, scaling mechanisms, and L2/L3 VPN types signaling)
- Switching and routing technologies - QinQ, SR, Traffic-engineering, MPLS based VPN services, NG-mVPN
- Understanding of Tier1 ISP network architectures
- Experience with Juniper PTX, MX, ACX and QFX platforms and Junos and Junos Evo operating systems
- Solid understanding and practical experience with:
- Linux systems (e.g., Ubuntu) for networking and system administration.
- Virtualization platforms (e.g., KVM) for deploying and managing virtual network environments.
- Messaging platforms like Apache Kafka for real-time data management.
- NETCONF and YANG models for network automation and configuration.
- Deploying and managing virtual machines in AWS for network and compute solutions
- Certifications: JNCIP, JNCIE / CCIE or equivalent are plus
- Ability to create and understand configurations in both IOS/XR and JUNOS to facilitate interoperability testing and certification of various services/solutions.
- Ability to create comprehensive documentation including Test Plans, MOPs, Design Documents, best practice documents
- Strong Interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a team environment.
- Desired Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. Responsibilities: This is a 40 hour per week position supporting testing at the customer location. This will be a mix of on-site and remote support.
- Ability to understand Customer's existing network design and their technical requirements for new designs.
- Ability to understand and work with both the customer's engineering and operational teams.
- New Product Implementation (NPI) e.g. testing of new systems, platforms, designs, features, functionality as well as software certification
- Test software patches and fixes
- Be available to troubleshoot network issues in coordination with JTAC as required
- The Resident Engineer is a customer advocate for Juniper and is required to help drive expedited problem resolution during escalation situations
- To assist the Customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures.
- Support design and planning of Juniper products within the Customer infrastructure.
- Drive best practice policies and implementation and management guidelines for Juniper products in the Customer environment
- The Resident Engineer is expected to be the subject matter expert of the customer networks
Minimum Salary: $131,648.00 Maximum Salary:$189,244.00 The pay range for this position is expected to be between $131,648.00 and $189,244.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave.
