Responsibilities:
Provides assistance during veterinary examinations and procedures, performs daily animal care duties, and maintains facility and inventory to ensure attainment of organization goals.

  • 60% Cleans and maintains organization of animal holding spaces, work areas and equipment
  • 30% Inventories and organizes supplies
  • 10% Assists with routine laboratory tests and specimen collection according to established medical orders and care plans


Tasks:

  • Act as back-up to kennel manager in handling submitting repair request forms to facilities manager
  • Help coordinate and oversee tasks for the kennel staff members
  • Observe animal patient behavior and report concerns to clinical care team as needed. Help ensure animal patients are safe and comfortable via regular visual wellness checks
  • Restock prescription diets and other diets as needed. Help ensure kennel supplies are stocked to meet operational needs.
  • Serve as service liaison in absence of kennel manager to aid in effective communication with the hospital services and that all hospital needs are being met
  • Serve as working supervisor to assist with custodial and kennel staff duties and tasks
  • Serve as assistant to maintain and clean I-131 room
  • Work closely with the kennel manager to coordinate kennel operations
  • Ensure safety and infectious disease controls are followed per established policies and protocols
  • Assist with Dane County Human Society stray/surrender program
  • Serve as back up to kennel manager in keeping towels and linens in stock and ensure quality controls are being met
  • Help maintain all client facing areas of the hospital, including entrances and sidewalks
  • Monitor cleanliness both inside and outside of the small animal hospital

Qualifications:

Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks.

Previous animal handling in a clinical setting preferred


Work Schedule:

Monday- Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm

Potential for additional weekend, on-call, and holiday hours as required by the hospital.


Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $17.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
Sign-on Bonus of 3-5% of base pay (based on FTE) to be paid over the first year of employment
