Position Overview:
University Services Information Technology (USIT) seeks a Business/Systems Analyst to connect the gap between business needs and technical solutions. This role will work independently and as part of a team to translate requirements into functional specifications for developers and other technical teams. In addition, being able to identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions to enhance operational efficiency is expected. This role will support business application(s), create and manage reports, perform data analytics, and other technology and organizational efforts. The individual within this position will take initiative, ensure accountability and follow-through, and will successfully serve as a liaison between clients, technical staff, and leadership. Ideal candidates will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a passion for the University's mission of research, education, and outreach.

Job Responsibilities:

Systems Analysis / Management
* Utilize diagramming tools to create mockups, wireframes, use case diagrams, workflow diagrams, etc.
* Develop and facilitate formal testing, evaluation, final acceptance, and other change management strategies
* Actively participate in testing of applications, updates, and other deliverables, and coordinate individuals included in the testing process
* Perform clean up or updates to data, system configurations, settings, permissions, etc.
* Create and maintain documentation such as policies for use of systems, standard operating procedures, user guides, training materials, or presentation slides
* Assist in communication or training efforts for the release of new systems or features
* Lead efforts with software vendors in the diagnosis of and application of their products
* Provide system-wide application support for health and safety systems
* Manage vendor relationships and contracts

Business Analysis
* Identify requirements needs and elicit responses using various techniques
* Serve as liaison between clients (business) and technical teams
* Translate and document business needs into technical terms
* Develop and facilitate formal testing, evaluation, final acceptance, and other change management strategies
* Actively participate in testing of applications, updates, and other deliverables, and coordinate individuals included in the testing process
* Design and develop reports using data warehouse or business intelligence tools to meet business needs

Project Management
* Lead and manage small to medium operational projects through all phases of initiation, planning, execution, and closure
* Meet with clients, develop project estimates and plans including project objectives, priorities, work tasks, deliverables, and timelines
* Develop and facilitate formal change management, organizational development, and business process improvement strategies
* Create and maintain a variety of project documentation (e.g., project plan, charter, risk register, communication plan, test plan, stakeholder log, etc.)
* Establish, foster, and manage positive and strong peer and client / business relationships, facilitate and manage expectations and competing / shifting priorities and needs
* Facilitate and ensure project compliance with various governances and policies (e.g., university policy, state and federal regulatory compliance, etc.)

Work Environment: This is a hybrid position, sharing time between on-site and remote work. On-site expectations are approximately twice per week, but can vary depending on business needs. Hours are generally 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications (must be documented on resume):
* Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience or a master's degree plus two years of experience.
* Experience with business analysis or requirements elicitation, analysis, and solution discovery
* Strong initiative and ability to work well both collaboratively and independently
* Commitment to positive team dynamics, client satisfaction, and creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment
* Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: Not documented on the posting
* Business Relationship Management knowledge or experience
* Experience or familiarity of programming/application development concepts
* Experience or familiarity with, databases, SQL, and/or other data concepts
* Experience in testing applications, reports, and dashboards, and conducting usability studies
* Demonstrated success leading projects
* Self-motivated, ability to effectively execute competing tasks and priorities.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $85,000 - $95,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
