POSITION DESCRIPTION

LISC seeks an individual to fill the position of Program Officer to support a portfolio of programs and initiatives in the affordable housing industry with a focus to create and preserve affordable housing (rental and homeownership) and build capacity of housing partners. This position reports to the Deputy Director of LISC Kalamazoo. The ideal candidate has prior experience and knowledge in the affordable housing industry including supporting comprehensive community development and cross sector partnerships, implementation strategies, real estate development and financial tools, data analysis, and project management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Support the development of LISC Kalamazoo's programmatic initiatives embedded in affordable housing policy and goals throughout Kalamazoo and Battle
  • Manage a portfolio of affordable housing programs and real estate initiatives, as part of the LISC Kalamazoo implementation strategy.
  • Plan and manage LISC Kalamazoo's portfolio of affordable housing programs, including partner organizational and financial capacity assessments, grant making, evaluating program impacts, and assessing trends, opportunities, and challenges.
  • Facilitate and convene meetings, trainings, and peer gatherings to share best practices with program participants, partners, the local community, and other public sector and private sector
  • Establish and coordinate technical assistance resources for program partners, including being proactive problem-solver.
  • Develop and manage relationships with partners including community- based organizations, mission-driven developers, and local/state agencies to foster inclusive community and economic
  • Collaborate with colleagues across teams including housing, lending, development and communications to support programming, fund development, and access to capital.
  • Produce reports and presentations on LISC Kalamazoo's work, the field of affordable housing, and related policy
  • Support with responding to inquiries from the public on affordable housing programs and other special projects/initiatives, as
  • Assume responsibility for special projects and other assignments, as needed



QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a professional field, nonprofit preferred
  • Experience working in neighborhoods of opportunity
  • Deep understanding of the field of community development; knowledge related affordable housing programs, real estate development, financing, and capacity building of nonprofit community-based organizations preferred
  • Working knowledge of the affordable housing, political, and social aspects of affordable housing
  • Experience and commitment to working with diverse constituents, including residents, community development organizations, public agencies, private developers, funders, and lenders
  • Solution-oriented and can effectively balance multiple priorities and programs
  • Commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience in balancing self-directed work with a team approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, research, analysis, time management and relationship/team building skills



COMPENSATION:

LISC offers a competitive salary ($55,400 - $69,300) salary commensurate with experience and location) * and excellent fringe benefits.

*Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
