Basic Function

LyondellBasell (LYB) is searching for a Electrical Engineer / Maintenance Team Lead for the Houston Technology Center (HTC), located in Channelview, TX. HTC functions as the Research and Development (R&D) Center for LyondellBasell's global Intermediates and Derivatives and Olefins businesses. We identify technological advancements that drive process and technology improvements, allowing LYB to sustain and build on our competitive advantages. HTC is located 19 miles from downtown Houston.

The Electrical Engineer / Maintenance Team Lead role is a unique, valuable opportunity to gain both engineering and leadership experience. The Electrical Engineer will be accountable for all electrical engineering activities at the site including day-to-day support, site projects and pilot plant design. Additionally, this role will lead the site's maintenance activities including planning and scheduling. It is expected that the successful candidate brings a strategic yet practical approach to the role in order to improve site processes, reliability, maintenance activities and technical solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities

* Provide Electrical Engineering support to the Design Engineer, Facilities, Maintenance and Operations groups.

* Day-to-day planning and scheduling of Maintenance Team activities to ensure high on-stream time of site infrastructure and services supporting the laboratories, pilot plants, and offices.

* Develop "job packages" for planned work activities, including required drawings, parts lists, and parts kits as required

* Procure equipment, parts, materials and services as needed to support site maintenance activities and capital projects

* Provide troubleshooting and technical support to craftsmen.

* Identify reoccurring maintenance issues, develop and implement corrective actions.

* Collaboratively work with Researchers, Operations and Lab staff to establish the timing/scheduling of repairs to minimize research interruption due to equipment downtime.

* Site owner / lead for compliance to corporate asset integrity standards and site preventative maintenance systems driving reliability improvements for the site.

* Manage facility maintenance expense budget, coordinating contract renewals, contactor approvals, processing of invoices, and accruals.

* Support planning and execution of site-wide CAPEX installations.

* Identify continuous improvement opportunities and implement practical solutions through engineering and technical enhancements

* Report directly to the Site Manager; works closely with Design Engineering and site Managers and Supervisors to ensure site objectives are met.

Min. Qualifications

* A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of petrochemical industry experience

* Demonstrated experience in the design, development, testing and enhancing electrical systems, equipment and components.

* Experience and exposure to day-to-day maintenance activities and projects

* Strong safety and results orientation with demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues, projects and changing priorities while maintaining customer focus.

* Demonstrated ability to manage a small work group and effectively communicate, drive improvement in others, delegate and empower others, be a champion of change, problem solve, and have good technical orientation.

* Demonstrated experience in budget preparation/management and cost forecasting.

* Proven ability to manage and deliver site projects on budget and in a timely manner

* Well versed in standard PC software tools, SAP, and efficient with document control procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

* Instrumentation, programming &/or control systems experience

* Work experience at a research & development site

* Prior people supervisory experience
