Summary of Job Duties:The Director of Finance Business Process Management is responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, and optimizing finance-related business processes across the organization, with a focus on Workday ERP systems and related financial operations. As a key leader within the Department of Business Process Management, the Director will work to streamline operations, address inefficiencies, and ensure financial processes align with institutional strategies and goals.

The Director will focus on process mapping, analysis, redesign, implementation, and monitoring to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of financial workflows. This role partners with university finance teams, business process stakeholders, and the University System Office to ensure that processes are well-documented, governed, and continuously improved. Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Process Management, this position plays a critical role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution

  • At least five years of professional experience in finance operations, business process management, or systems optimization

  • A minimum of three years of experience working with Workday ERP or other enterprise financial systems

  • Demonstrated expertise in process mapping, analysis, redesign, and implementation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing or supporting Workday Finance in higher education

  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean, Project Management, Change Management or other process improvement methodologies

  • Proven ability to develop and implement governance frameworks for business processes

  • Experience in Project Management or Change Management

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of business process management principles, including process mapping, analysis, and monitoring

  • Ability to translate organizational goals into optimized financial workflows and solutions

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying root causes and delivering sustainable improvements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and stakeholder groups

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Workday preferred), process documentation tools, and performance monitoring frameworks

  • Commitment to fostering a culture ofcontinuous improvementand operational excellence

Additional Information:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process Mapping and Documentation: Lead efforts to document and visualize current finance-related business processes and workflows, identifying pain points, redundancies, and bottlenecks.

  • Process Analysis and Optimization: Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of financial processes using data-driven analysis. Identify opportunities for improvement and develop strategies to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.

  • Process Redesign and Implementation: Design improved or new processes to address identified challenges. Oversee the implementation of redesigned workflows, including configuration changes in Workday Finance and related systems.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop performance metrics and monitoring frameworks to evaluate the success of implemented processes. Continuously track and assess process performance, making adjustments and refinements as needed.

  • Collaboration Across the Organization: Partner with finance leadership, campus departments, and system stakeholders to align process improvements with organizational goals. Act as the primary liaison for finance business process governance with Workday Support Services and the University System Office.

  • Governance and Standards: Establish governance frameworks to ensure consistency, accountability, and sustainability of finance processes. Develop standards for process documentation, workflows, and approvals.

  • Training and Change Management: Work with training teams to ensure employees understand and adopt updated financial processes and systems. Develop tools such as job aids, workflows, and process guides to facilitate smooth transitions.

  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous process improvement, encouraging teams to adopt innovative, data-driven solutions to optimize financial workflows.

Salary Information:

$100,000 - $120,000
