Description

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a full-time Occupational Therapist II to join the Operation Mend Department. Operation Mend is a nationally unique program providing specialized surgical and psychological care for veterans, service members, and their caregivers. You will deliver tailored occupational therapy services to adult neurology patients presenting with conditions such as traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, and postural orthostatic tachycardia(POTS)/dysautonomia. Primary duties include:

Performing comprehensive patient evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation

Developing individual treatment plans and goals for patients

Creating and implementing evidence-based holistic programming and interventions

Providing patient and family education, including guidance on home care programs

Supervising and mentoring postdoctoral students and trainees

Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes

Salary range: $52.73/hr - $63.91/hr

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy

Valid CA Occupational Therapy License by the CBOT

BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Minimum 2 years experience as Occupational Therapist

Prior experience evaluating and treating military veterans

Demonstrated knowledge of etiology, course, prognosis, and manifestation of a wide variety of disease processes

Ability to safely perform repetitive bending, stooping, sitting, squatting, walking and standing during 8-10hr day

Ability to lift, transfer, and push patients

Ability to effectively communicate with patients and staff for varied socio-economic backgrounds

Skill in making appropriate and effective decisions based on needs of the patient, priorities of the department, and the Medical Center and Department Policies and Procedures
