Posting Summary |
Rutgers University-Camden is seeking a part-time/temporary professional tutor for the subjects of math and science in the division of Student Academic Success. This position supports students individually and in small groups; reviews mathematic and/or scientific principles, demonstrates solving problems and facilitates test reviews; assists in helping students develop study skills and learning strategies; provides counsel on course materials and test taking strategies. Provides student support for all math levels; collaborates with the Assistant Director of Student Academic Support to ensure student academic support needs are met. Schedules tutoring appointments, documents interventions, and tracks student progression. Assists the Assistant Director with peer tutor training and academic workshops; Performs other academic support related duties as assigned. |

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Also requires a minimum of three to five years of relevant professional experience in an administrative and/or supervisory function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy.
- OR -
Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education/experience in the discipline. A master's degree in a specialized discipline may be required, particularly in research, project management or managerial positions. Also requires a minimum of five years experience and/or increasing functional responsibility in a leadership/managerial role. With a master's degree requirement, a minimum of three years of related experience is acceptable. Excellent communication skills and computer literacy. |

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
Bachelor's degree in mathematics, finance, biology, physics, a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of a student-focused center.
Be proficient in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other campus systems (Navigate, Smartsheet, Outlook, Qualtrics, Canva, social media). Knowledge of tutoring processes and teaching methods. Knowledge of tutorial/learning materials and instructional aides. Knowledge of math instruction, curriculum and program development. Skilled in preparing instructional aids and plans. Skilled in presenting ideas and concepts orally and in writing. Ability to assess and understand various learning styles and to relate to a diverse population of students. Ability to work independently, analyze problems, identify solutions and take appropriate action. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, and students in a professional manner. Must be dependable and able to work in-person, during regular business hours. Some evening hours may be required virtually. |
