Huntsman is now searching for a Strategic Category Lead who will support the category of staffing and recruiting, and the Americas Sourcing team with MDG, Ariba, SLP, SAP, and related applications following established procurement policies and procedures to optimize overall value for Huntsman. This position will be in The Woodlands, Texas and will report to the Sr Purchasing Manager.

In summary, as the Strategic Category Lead, you will:

  • CATEGORY MANAGEMENT - Support the Indirect Procurement team, as needed, to implement their Category Strategies through the 7-steps of the Strategic Sourcing Methodology adopted by Huntsman. This includes activities such as helping onboard suppliers in Ariba, tracking vendor registrations in SLP, managing changes in MDG, and others.
  • STRATEGIC SOURCING - Lead the sourcing initiatives for the category of Staffing & Recruiting and other assigned categories by supporting the business needs and support in the automation of the current process.
  • STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT - Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships across the Americas region to ensure business alignment with the category sourcing strategy established for Staffing & Recruiting (and other assigned categories) and continuous improvement of supplier performance.
  • NEGOTIATION - Negotiate staffing and recruiting agreements and contracts in line with internal procedures, terms and conditions, expected service levels, quality requirements and financial conditions.
  • CONTRACT MANAGEMENT - Create supply agreements in line with legal guidelines. Ensure supplier contracts are approved, stored, and maintained according to internal procedures.
  • SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT - Under the supervision of the Indirect Procurement Manager, assist in the implementation of the Supplier Relationship Management program for Staffing & Recruiting and other assigned categories to develop and grow relationships between new and existing key suppliers and key business stakeholders to ensure long term value for Huntsman.
  • COMPLIANCE - Understand and adhere to the organization's policies and procedures and relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct. Ensure that the Staffing & Recruiting and other assigned categories are supplied on time, from approved sources and in compliance with all relevant regulations and internal requirements.
  • PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT - Continuously develop skills and capabilities by participating in formal and informal training, seeking out coaching and mentoring support and by developing industry understanding of technology, best practices and regulation.
  • ORGANIZATIONAL INTEGRATION - Support integration and collaborative savings delivery from a Purchasing perspective.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years relevant experience in related roles.
  • Direct people management not required but must be able to demonstrate ability to work in team environment.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%.

Skills and knowledge

  • Strategic sourcing skills - Working knowledge conducting analysis of complex spend data to provide meaningful data trends and insights to support the development of sourcing initiatives for Staffing & Recruiting and other assigned categories.
  • Staffing & Recruiting - Clear understanding and experience with the following concepts: 1099 vs W-2 status; cost modeling including mark ups; and billable vs base rate, benefits. Familiarity with staffing and recruiting agencies and market trends. Experience implementing MSP/VMS systems as a Generation One client. Experience interacting with various stakeholders including vendors, HR, Legal, site teams, and business leaders.
  • Knowledge of multi-task computer operation in a Windows environment, particularly Windows-based PC systems, emphasizing Excel (i.e., pivot tables, vlookups, graphs) and related analytical tools (i.e., PowerBI), and PowerPoint proficiency.
  • General understanding and ability to utilize key financial indicators (TCO, EBITDA, ROI, payment terms, saving measures, mark-up setting, etc.) in business decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strategic sourcing methodology- General understanding of strategic sourcing methodologies (i.e., 7-steps, or similar) strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • C.P.M., CPSM, CPSD, CPCM, CCCM CSCP, CPIM, CLTD, or other related certifications a plus.
  • Experience in petrochemical or heavy industrial settings preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Ariba strongly preferred.
