Description
Signet, a Pavion company is seeking a talented and motivated Communications Sales Engineer join our security business unit. Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and/or modify Equipment Layout [Rack Elevations and Room Layout] Drawings
- Develop and/or modify Equipment Installation and Cabling Detail Drawings
- Perform Equipment Power Calculations and Power Supply Load Balancing Calculations
- Develop IP, network, and equipment Addressing Schemes
- Coordinate with SIGNET Project Managers, Network and Field engineers to develop comprehensive test plans for installs, upgrades, migrations, and cutovers
- Perform fiber plant design, wide area network, and local area network design, including optical loss calculations
- Perform system design, product identification and solution creation based on client requirements, RFP documents, specs, and/or plans
- Evaluate and select value based manufacturers to meet or exceed design requirements
- Perform value engineering on selected equipment, manufacturers and solutions as required
- Collaborate with manufacturers, distributors, and internal SIGNET engineering staff to develop bills of material to support the specified design
- Conduct meetings with client IT personnel to review system network and server requirements
- Assist Sales Team with Pre-Sales support on scope of work establishment, system installation and network equipment requirements
- Assist the SIGNET field engineers in resolving technical issues and software integrations
- Review project design documents, including scope of work, equipment performance specifications, and/or schematic drawings to drive SIGNET design and bill of materials
- Collaborate with SIGNET field engineers to perform bench/lab level configuration and testing of equipment prior to shipment
- Research technology-based solutions for varied customer needs and requirements
- Develop excel spreadsheets of equipment configurations and provisioning data
- Develop and/or compile technical training materials * Develop and maintain a repository of system configuration information
- Review of design documentation and submittals to verify changes based upon direction from the project consultant
- Assist the project team with inventory management and review of equipment assemblies to verify compliance with the design documentation
- Assist the project team with coordinating the procurement of materials and installation logistics (as required)
- Support project team with periodic site visits to attend client coordination meetings * Perform additional duties as required
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or similar technical degree
3 - 5 years network, and/or infrastructure Design Engineering and Execution Experience
Microsoft Windows & Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint) proficient
AutoCad and Microsoft Visio proficient
Experience with network infrastructure, network technology, and other applicable
Technology Equipment design and Installation
Experience with LAN / WAN Networking & Windows Server and/or Virtualized Environments
Experience with RF, and other wireless signal solutions and designs
Experience with low voltage security, power and or distribution systems
Familiar with Associate-level networking experience or equivalent
AutoCad and/or Microsoft Visio
Proficient with computers and basic Microsoft Windows applications
Must be able to demonstrate persistence, tactfulness and responsibility
Must maintain silence regarding confidential information
Ability to make decisions based on personal judgment and verifiable criteria
Perceive details in a variety of written materials
Understand and apply proper terminology and methods, read & interpret reports, work with numbers and reason clearly and logically
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be self-motivated and must work well with others in a dynamic team environment
Must possess strong written and oral communications skills
