ECU Center for Sustainability is currently seeking an
EPA Research Assistant.
Job Description: This position is with the
CET Center for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering working on projects funded by the US Environmental Protection Agency (
EPA). The projects aim is to reduce pollution, conserve water, and save energy through lean and green practices in the food and beverage processing, chemical manufacturing, and metal manufacturing and fabrication industries in North Carolina. Student is expected to work roughly 10 hours a week. Working days and hours will be arranged around the student's schedule by supervisor.
Duties: Help with all components of the
EPA project and lead the undergraduate students project team, this includes:
- Contacting industry in NC to schedule energy assessments and to follow up after the assessments.
- Work with the Pollution Prevention team on the energy and cost benefit analysis.
- Finding pollution prevention resources for the industry
- Help with the Environmental Management Plans
Expected Products:
Includes:
- Conducting energy assessments
- Completing assessment reports
- Environmental management plans
- Pollution prevention tip sheets.
- Calculations and documents for the cost benefit analysis.
Evaluation Metrics:
A weekly meeting will be scheduled to evaluate the progress and the productivity.
