Job Title: Chemistry and Rheology Leader OC Business Title: Chemistry and Rheology Leader Job Codes(s): Revision Date: 11/22/2024 PURPOSE OF THE JOB Leads a team of scientists and technicians to develop fundamental chemistry and rheology solutions that impact multiple businesses in alignment with the Enterprise R&D strategy. The leader will be accountable to collaborate with broader Enterprise Program Leaders and Business Unit R&D teams to identify, prioritize and develop the critical Chemistry and Rheology capabilities required to deliver the Enterprise strategy. They will make significant investments in new equipment and external partnerships to build these capabilities. Guiding the team in Safer Together as well as all laboratory operations will be the responsibility of the Chemistry and Rheology Leader. - Creates connection between group safety culture and other groups across the organization.
- Chemistry & Rheology Lab Capabilities:
- Partners with Program Leaders and BU R&D teams to build a capability development roadmap in alignment with the Enterprise R&D Strategy and Business Unit (BU) Long Range Plans (LRPs)
- Executes development of new capabilities through a balanced mix of external partnerships (buy) and internal investments (build).
- Establishes and maintains deep collaborations between teams across the S&T organization.
- Plans, coordinates, and executes Chemistry and Rheology lab work in strong collaboration with Program Leaders and Business Unit R&D teams.
- Establishes and maintains deep collaborations between teams across S&T.
- Develops broader R&D organizational capability by sharing fundamental knowledge, validated test methods and equipment through a teaching model.
- Develops suitable solutions in collaboration with product developers based on current and future operational capabilities.
- Creates and leverages connections with external labs, universities, and research firms to advance Chemistry and Rheology innovation.
- Connects fundamental science to the Enterprise Big Problems to Solve.
- Establishes a high level of rigor around technical documentation and knowledge generation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related technical field.
- 3+ years project management experience in R&D and/or manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated people leadership in an R&D environment.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of R&D experience at manufacturing companies.
- 5+ year people leadership in R&D.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a technical project portfolio.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Fluent in English.
- Excellent problem framing and solving skills.
- Sound communication and technical documentation skills. Clearly and concisely conveys information, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
- Ability to think independently and make decisions amidst ambiguity.
