Job DescriptionThe Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks including building repairs, grounds maintenance, and equipment upkeep, all aimed at providing a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This Maintenance Worker assists in identifying and addressing maintenance needs and a commitment to adhering to safety standards.

Essential Functions:

Core Values: Demonstrate TSTC's core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity in all interactions with stakeholders, customers, students, and community members.
Maintenance and Repair: Assist in performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on buildings and facilities.
Safety and Compliance: Assist in maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
Building Access: Enter occupied and unoccupied buildings with appropriate accompaniment.
Equipment Management: Check out tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
Vehicle Operation: Operate state vehicles and equipment safely.
Communication and Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments to address facility needs while providing regular updates to their supervisor.
Physical Exertion: Perform physically demanding tasks requiring strength and frequent moderate lifting (30-60 lbs), often in awkward positions.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years combined training in apprenticeship and experience in trade.
Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
Valid Texas Driver's License and insurability under TSTC Liability Policy.

Working Conditions:

Exertion: Significant physical effort and strength required daily, often involving awkward postures and moderate lifting.
Exposure: Regular exposure to dust, grease, noise, inclement weather, and temperature extremes.
Risk:Occasional exposure to minor hazards controlled by safety precautions.
