General Information:

Hitachi Energy is seeking for a Commissioning Engineer this position can be remote with the ability to travel 60-70% of the time in North America.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead & support commissioning activities in the Hitachi Energy, Power Grids Grid Integration Service department.
  • Guide Hitachi Energy and contractor personnel for testing and commissioning of Substation and FACTS equipment, perform/manage work execution, coordination of equipment deliveries, environmental, health and safety (EH&S) responsibilities for contractor personnel and represent Hitachi Energy to customer.
  • Responsible for developing commissioning budgets, schedules, inspection & test plans, energization plans, and other project budgets.

Your Background:

  • Minimum five years of experience managing and executing testing & commissioning of HV Substations and or power quality substations: SVC, STATCOM, Series Capacitor Banks.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Installation, testing, and commissioning of AC circuits, DC distribution, DC control and protection circuits, mechanical interlocking arrangements, network and all interface terminals. Experience with thyristor, IGCT, & IGBT valves is a plus.
  • Testing and commissioning of power transformers, auxiliary transformers, UPS/\UMD & battery back-up systems, current transformers, voltage transformers, power transformers, capacitor banks, reactors, filter banks, surge arrestors, busbar system, grounding system, disconnect/grounding switches, and protection systems.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • High level of knowledge in the functionalities of relaying concepts, practices, electrical protection & control systems, substation automation systems, and SCADA/RTU systems.
  • Ability to read and understand protection/electrical drawings and technical documents; must be able to disseminate this information to project teams.
  • Ability to manage and lead large teams of Hitachi Energy & contract employees on project sites.
  • Ability to track progress of work execution, generate reports, and present project status to business leadership.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and act decisively.
  • Foresight to anticipate problems and recognize opportunities for cost-effectively improving operations.
