Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant. This position is funded through 09/30/2029. Under the direction of the Dean, STEM Pathway, this Director, Biohealth Career Pathways position works to advance the educational and workforce training vision of the Biohealth Tech Hub and directs activities related to the Biotechnology, Radiography, and CNC programs. The director also promotes a collaborative, communicative working environment with project stakeholders (including leadership in the MCT and Healthcare Pathways) and external partners in an effort to promote the College's Mission and Vision and to provide a positive learning environment that leads to students who complete relevant degree programs and enter the workforce in a field related to Biohealth. Additionally, this individual networks with Biohealth Tech Hub partners and facilitates partnerships with external and internal stakeholders to ensure the success of the ABC Pathways project; develops strategic plans for funding for Biohealth ABC Pathways initiatives; and provides leadership in managing Biohealth Tech Hub grants and other funding sources in collaboration with initiative team leaders.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

- External Stakeholder Relationship Management: Manages relationships with key external stakeholders including, but not limited to, grant and industry partners, faculty and staff. Collaborates with teams in various functions and design strategies to improve communication and collaboration across teams. Networks and continuously improves external and internal relationships to aid in meeting the goals and financial sustainability of the ABC Pathways project.
- Strategic Partnership: Collaborates with the Dean of STEM, Biohealth project partners, and district wide administration on aligning programs and curriculum to labor market needs and maximizing opportunities for student success. Serves as a participant and leader in the Actualizing Biohealth Careers (ABC) Pathways project management team and provides leadership in ABC Pathways programs.
- Operational Oversight: Performs or facilitates operational activities related to the ABC Pathways program at MATC, such as timesheet approval, office scheduling, purchasing, repair orders, tracking, or maintenance requests. Compiles reports as needed by the ABC Pathways project partners.
- Data-Driven Decision Making and Continuous Improvement: Leverages data analytics to drive informed decision-making and fosters continuous improvement within the area of responsibility. Analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) and relevant metrics to gain actionable insights and monitors performance measures aligned with organizational goals. Utilities data to inform strategic and operational decisions.
- Applies continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Plan-Do-Study-Act) based on data analysis promoting a data-driven culture and enhancing team data literacy.
- Committee Participation and System Engagement: Participates in cross-functional committees and organizes, reviews, and debriefs meetings among stakeholders. Attends internal and external meetings and may serve as chair/co-chair for other committees.
- Ethics and Confidentiality: Practices honesty by demonstrating a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles, values, truthfulness, and accuracy in all actions. Addresses all student and employee behavior in a confidential and respectful manner.
- Budget Planning and Fiscal Administration: Assists with preparing and administering capital, operational and grant budgets, and reconciles and balances accounts in accordance with Biohealth Pathways grant and other funding requirements. Identifies program needs and works with WI Biohealth Tech Hub leadership to identify and secure applicable federal and state grants in partnership with appropriate stakeholders.
- Cross Functional Relationships and Collaborative Teamwork: Establishes, maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders.
- Leadership and Supervision: Develops and manages a high performing team that is highly skilled and motivates staff to remain focused on the delivery of quality and value-added services and allocates cross-functional responsibilities and work processes. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching/mentoring, performance management, and progressive discipline as needed.
- Continuous Learning & Professional Development: Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community colleges. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
- Other duties: Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirement, as well as all MATC policies and procedures. Required Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Health, or related field and five (5) years of related work experience with three (3) years of supervisory experience or one (1) year of staff supervision combined with an Emerging Leaders equivalency. Preferred Education & Experience: Master's degree in Biology, Health, or related field and more than five (5) years of experience with a minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience. - Regularly assigns work to subordinate(s).
Supervision Given:
- Supervises managerial, supervisory, and professional personnel. Provides recommendations on hiring new employees; on coaching and counseling; on training; and granting time off.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES * Knowledge of the functions and objectives of Biohealth and/or Biotechnology and workforce development-related programs and student support services. Strong understanding of vocational, technical and adult education in academic administration. * Knowledge and experience conceptualizing and delivering successful public and private grant-supported projects in a higher education setting. * Ability to problem solve and analyze effectively, including use of data analytics such as to analyze and interpret statistical and management data. Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the STEM Pathway and is available to start as soon as possible. This is a grant-funded position. Funding for this position is contingent upon the terms of the grant. This position is funded through 09/30/2029. Hours: This position is full-time, 1.0 FTE/40+ hours per week. Hours are varied but are generally between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday. Some evenings and weekends are required based on student programs and initiatives. Hours vary based on departmental needs. Employees will conduct all work hours in the State of Wisconsin, performing work outside the state is strictly prohibited.
Salary: The salary for this position is listed to the midpoint of the 2024/2025 salary range. Salary placement is determined by a review of the applicants employment (on the job application only) and educational background. Please be sure to include your complete work history.
