Position Summary:

Vallen's Sr. HR Generalist will report into the HR Manager and work collaboratively with the North American Shared Services Team and other Vallen departments to support various projects, programs and initiatives. This role will initially include transactional responsibilities while learning the business and strengthening HR skills but will also support a specific client group that is made up of the corporate functional areas. This role will also include more strategic responsibilities under the direction, support and development of the HR Manager and Chief Human Resources Officer.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the business by managing the administration of performance management, exit interviews, tuition reimbursement, service awards, and employee relations as well as other HR initiatives. As skills develop, such responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate exit interviews and perform analysis on the data collected.
  • Identify trends and make recommends to HR leadership from which decisions are made.
  • Research, gather appropriate data elements and respond to customer background compliance letters.
  • Manage HR project initiatives: coordinating activities, obtaining resources, contacting vendors, make recommendations, and/or processing invoices/contracts.
  • Create, track, and report on projects within the HR department including, but not limited to, data analyzation, preparation of communications, and drafting or editing of Human Resources communications and training materials on appropriate projects.
  • Support company-wide strategic initiatives such as employee engagement, performance management, organizational development, and succession planning and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Analyze current HR programs and practices to assist in identifying program gaps and/or process improvement opportunities and manages initiatives on behalf of HR leadership.
  • Exercise independent judgement and initiative while dealing with various queries from managers and employees, responding to basic inquiries, providing information, and advising HR leadership of the concerns of associates as necessary.
  • Conduct or assist in recruitment efforts for temporary associates and exempt and non-exempt personnel.
  • Provide support to HR leadership as well as handle the scheduling of corporate location associate functions, charitable events, associate events, and meetings.
  • Support On Boarding processes and deliver On Boarding webinars on a monthly basis.
    Complete HRIS head count reports, turnover reports, HR scorecard and other one-off reporting requirements. Research anomalies, and develop presentation materials. Define requirements from which various HR-related reports are written and participates in user acceptance testing and validation.
  • Responsible for the data content, functional design, maintenance and enhancements of the HR Intranet site.
  • Manage initial communication with employees, clients, and vendors, responding or coordinating response to HR requests.
  • Act as a role model of Vallen's culture and an engagement champion.
  • Draft and maintain the document retention of HR communications, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Act as a resource to associates.
  • All other tasks and duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, e.g., Human Resources or a business-related discipline, coupled with 3 years' experience in Human Resources
  • Other relevant experience should include:
  • Knowledge of principles, practices and standards of Human Resource administration.
  • Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in collecting analyzing, interpreting and reporting data.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Outstanding MS-Office proficiency in Word, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
