Work Schedule
Security team start/stop times vary within the library's hours of operation, and can accommodate a wide range of individual availability, including weekends and night/swing/day shifts.
Pay Rate $17.5
Minimum Experience/Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Completion of an accredited police academy or prior law enforcement experience.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patrols and monitors the facility for situations that might endanger the safety and security of patrons, collections, and equipment.
  • Maintains ongoing competency with security alarms, fire panels, video surveillance, alarm monitoring system, and door alarms.
  • Reports daily to Library Security Coordinator on security-related issues and maintains logs of shift activities as well as "Lost and Found".
  • Uses email, phone and radio communications between Library Security Office and Campus Police.
  • Initiates emergency procedures when appropriate and assists with the implementation of these procedures as instructed.
  • Stays current on methods/practices, knowledge, and skills in all job competencies.
