The pay rate for this position is $20 - $25 per hour.

Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center Purpose Statement: Inspire people to discover their God given talents and develop their potential through artistic, educational, physical, and spiritual experiences in a Christ-centered atmosphere.

Job Summary/Primary Purpose: The Kroc Accountant is responsible for handling accounting entries, functions, records, reporting and use of accounting systems for the Omaha Kroc Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Perform balancing of daily monetary handling activities and deposits.
  • Prepare daily journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Record, process, and maintain all accounts payable and receivable.
  • Process employee expense reports, check requests, and petty cash requests.
  • Assist in the processing of membership transactions including refunds, monthly EFT processing, researching declined authorizations, invoice past due accounts, etc.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of the backend accounting, finance functions, and point of sale processes to be able to provide effective input to leadership when new processes or procedures are considered.
  • Maintain compliance records and files, including all associated documentation readily available for auditing purposes.
  • In conjunction with Divisional Finance Dept., review/audit all transactions on monthly bank and internal finance statements and report any discrepancies.
  • Drive to the bank, DHQ, and special events as required.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army and Kroc Center Policies and Procedures.
  • Provides assistance to purchasing and inventory personnel as needed.
  • Driving is an essential function of the role.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Education and/or Experience: Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Training, certifications, and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree from a college or university and at least 2 years' related experience in Accounting or Finance.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.



  • Competence in financial reporting and compliance with GAAP.
  • Experience in technical aspects of account and financial reporting with the ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use automated accounting systems with the capability to identify an issue and research related transactions for explanation.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • English proficiency required, Spanish language skills helpful.
  • Exceptional flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters
  • General computer knowledge is required to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.


Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical requirements include good speaking, hearing and vision. Excellent manual dexterity. Ability to stand, bend and reach for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment. This position will require the ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds.

Working Conditions: The work environment is a community center with light to moderate traffic and noise levels.
