Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Primary Job function is construction surveying work this includes but not limited to the following:
- Perform layout work working from benchmarks and monuments to a construction area. Have the ability to close out a set of three or more points for the elevation and coordinate location (i.e. job site North and East, Longitude and latitude)
- Be able to perform translations from the various coordinate systems (i.e. NAD 83, NAD 27, etc.)
- Do basic construction layout work using conventional survey equipment (theodolite) or electronic/optical equipment (total station) to a normal accuracy of +/- 1/16"
- Be able to do the theodolite math to verify total station or GPS data
- Have the ability to use a variety of modern surveying equipment, manual recording, computer-aided drafting programs and databases to collect and record data of geological areas according to project requirements
- Communicate with architects, engineers and construction personnel as needed during a project to plan and support multiple crafts.

- Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds and other records to obtain data needed for surveys.
- Develop new data and review data for accuracy.
- Determine methods and procedures for establishing or re-establishing survey control.
- Keep accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performed.
- Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements.
- Coordinates findings with work of engineering personnel, clients and others concerned with the project.
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.
- Clean work area, tools, equipment, and restock materials, as necessary.
- Perform additional related duties, as directed.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Previous industrial construction (oil & gas, petrochemical, power, LNG, etc) experience required.
- 5 years' experience as a surveyor.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for describing the features of land, sea, and air masses, including their physical characteristics and locations.
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift.
- Must possess a valid safety training card.
- Must complete the Matrix Service Basic Safety training and Process Safety Management training.
- Obtain and maintain an active status within the drug testing program.
