Nurse Resident (RN), Cardiac Telemetry

The RWJBarnabas Health New Graduate RN Residency program is a one-year program that provides New Graduate RN s with a safe, caring, supportive and robust learning environment. Our goal is to allow new graduate nurses the opportunity to gain additional clinical competencies to achieve a stress-free transition from student to professional practice. Highlights of our program include:

• Preceptor and new nurse relationship-guided transition support.
• Continuing education and ongoing enhancement of professional development.
• Specialty-specific foundation courses developed to reflect scope and standards of practice.
• Application of professional accountability and ethical practice inherent in the role of the registered nurse.
• Recognition of the effects of skilled nursing practice on patient safety, quality and satisfaction.
• Self-care focus, to maintain a safe and fulfilling nursing practice, for both the nurse and patient.
• Mentorship to support the new graduate nurse through their first year of practice and beyond.
• New graduates are hired in the area of specialty to enhance their specialty education experience from day one.

Scheduling Requirements:

• Night Shift, 36 Hours Per Week
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation

Qualifications:

• Active New Jersey RN License or pending RN license (with completed NCLEX exam) required
• New Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with less than 6 months of RN experience is required
• ASN or BSN required
• AHA BLS prior to start date required
• Career interest in Oncology and/or Med Surg specialties is highly preferred

About this unit: As a Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide quality nursing care in collaboration with the medical staff and within the guidelines of the New Jersey State Nurse Practice Act. Our Telemetry Unit is a 38-Bed Unit. The team-oriented unit provides a wide variety of medical/ surgical and diagnostic services to a diverse cardiac population, which includes congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, respiratory compromise and dysrhythmias. The skills learned here set the groundwork for advancement to critical care.
