Infrastructure Analyst V (Middleware Engineer)

Job Summary:

Responsibilities:

• Resolve issues through level 3 in server, operating systems or other software under the control of the Distributed Systems management team
• Provide guidance to junior infrastructure analysts and follows guidance and direction from Lead and senior
• Perform day to day operations to maintain SLAs and business functions
• Acquire knowledge of new technologies and may implement to benefit Horizon and disseminate this information ti IT staff members
• Manage vendor relationships including hardware, software, and maintenance contracts
• Escalate issues when necessary to senior members of the team for resolution
• Take ownership of all assigned level II and III issues and be responsible for follow up from end to end
• Installation and configuration of applications, clusters, and databases
• Documenting processes and procedures for infrastructure support
• Ability to implement architectural changes infrastructure changes of entire systems.
• Ability to attend technical mtg with peers and interact with enough knowledge to contribute to end results.
• Ability to suggest, recommend and plan, Architectural changes to infrastructure
• 100% SME with ability to teach levels below
• Ability to run technical mtg with peers and above
• 10+ years related IT work experience

Core Middleware/DevOps Specific Requirements:

• Extensive engineering and implementation (hands on) experience in managing RedHat OpenShift (OCP) or related Kubernetes / Container platforms like ECS/EKS.
• Hands on experience in automating CI / CD needs on RedHat OpenShift (OCP) or related Kubernetes / Container platforms.
• Working knowledge with Docker, Git, Jenkins.
• Experience with DevOps concepts/working tools is needed.
• General experience in Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP flavors
• Working knowledge for AWS Foundational Services like ECS, EC2, IAM, VPCs, Networking, Security Groups, Load Balancers, etc.
• Experience with any industry leading Scripting languages such as Shell scripting/Python/Groovy/PowerShell is great add-on.
• Any experience or knowledge with IBM CloudPak products is a plus.
• Working Experience with managing Infrastructure platforms using Terraform.
• Core Middleware experience in handling IBM WebSphere products / Application Server / WebServers is a great add-on.
• Working knowledge on distributed operating systems like Linux / IBM AIX / Windows.
• Knowledge of Load balancers, DNS resolutions, basic Network issues troubleshooting related to Middleware technologies

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required or 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree

Work Experience:

• 9+ years of related IT work experience.
  

Knowledge:

• Requires knowledge of distributive computing platforms
• Requires Microsoft server technologies and WinTel platforms
• Requires understanding in email platforms/technologies
• Change Management methodologies preferred

Additional Comments:

• Ability to read server logs and perform periodic system maintenance. Implement third party tools to monitor and report on performance bottlenecks.
• Perform problem resolution and root cause analysis along with recommending and implementing preventive techniques.
• Provide technical consulting to developers and work with vendors to help identify application and interface deficiencies.
• As part of a 24x7 team, support production environments, emergencies and critical corporate projects.
• Extensive knowledge of following operating systems Windows Server, Linux (RedHat), VMWARE, AWS EC2s
• Good understanding of networking protocol such at TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS, SNMP, OSI layers, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, VLANs, telnet, FTP, Secure FTP, VPN, HTTP, and HTTPS, Load Balancers (F5, NLB) is a plus
• Deep understanding of technologies such as Internet Information Servers (IIS), SQL servers, Clusters, Application servers, Distributed Computing platforms, Dot Net, Terminal Services
• Solid understanding of windows infrastructure including Active Directory, NT domains, Batch and scripting, WMI, Security Updates, service packs
• Proven knowledge and expertise in planning and executing Disaster Recovery.
• Demonstrate technical and advisory leadership for customers, and consultants and effectively communicate technical and business message.
• Support Middleware activities over Oncall schedules
