Job Details:

General Notes

This position is located at Children's Wellness Center in Del Valle, TX. Will require reliable personal transportation to different areas in Austin and Del Valle, Texas. Mileage will be reimbursed. This is a full timeposition funded by a grant until May 31, 2025 with the possibility of continuation contingent on available funding. General schedule is Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, schedule may change to include some evenings or weekend hours.

Responsibilities
  • Work with School of Nursing staff and community partners to develop neighborhood-level strategies to support the health and social services needs of families and individuals.

  • Maintain regular communication with community partners via face-to-face meetings, emails, and texts, phone calls.

  • Provide essential services to individuals and families in their communities.

  • Promote health living practices and prevent diseases by educating people on proper nutrition, exercise, and hygiene.

  • Collect data and assist in generating reports on health outreach activities and outcomes.

  • Document activities and results in an effective manner while adhering to School of Nursing's guidelines and protocols.

  • Work with grant program managers to create and distribute educational material for community partners.

Medical receptionist/office assistant:

  • Answer clinic phones, schedule patient appointments and make reminder calls. Maintain confidential patient documents. Inputs and retrieves medical information and files as needed. Ensures correctness and completeness of data that has been or is to be entered. Provide information regarding eligibility for services and register patients.

  • Evaluates incoming mail, reports, or inquiries and distributes. Types letters, reports, forms, and other materials from notes or rough drafts when asked by health care professionals.

  • Receive payment from clients; record and issue receipts for cash and checks.

Required Qualifications
  • Candidates must have the minimum education level of a high school diploma or its equivalent.

  • Required to speak fluent English and Spanish.

  • Ability to use computer equipment.

  • Ability to drive and access to a reliable car to travel to/from Austin metro area.

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, interpersonal and community engagement skills with people of all ages, people experiencing homelessness, formerly incarcerated, people with disabilities, physical, and mental illnesses, variety of education levels and professions).

  • Demonstrated proficiency of interviewing techniques to obtain personal information, to make inquiries and referrals.

  • Adherence to highest ethical, legal, and regulatory standards for community health workers.

  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a clinic/community-based setting performing outreach/field work related duties, and receptionist duties.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of resources that serve individuals who are older, with a disability and/or other barriers.

  • Understanding of health equity, root causes of health disparities, and social determinants of health.

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).

Salary Range

$36,000
