Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Appointee position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Cristina Montagna. The research interest of the Montagna lab is to conduct cancer research affecting a variety of tissues to analyze experiments relative to the understanding of molecular mechanisms of tumor initiation and progression. The Montagna Lab at Rutgers Cancer Institute leverages multiple experimental approaches. Including single-cell genomics by next-generation sequencing, in situ single-cell analyses of DNA and RNA by Fluorescent in situ Hybridization ( FISH), and CRISPR gene editing to induce genomic instability and study its consequences on tumor transformation and therapy response. The candidate will have the opportunity to join a highly translational laboratory that seeks to identify underlying mechanisms of tumorigenesis and translate these findings into improved personalized therapeutic strategies for treating breast and cervical cancer.

Standard lab equipment; computer software/hardware; presentation software; microscopes.

Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking, and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.

Work Environment: Laboratory work environment, with moderate noise. Exposure to biological specimens (cells, blood, tissues, etc.) with possible exposure to infectious diseases and hazardous chemicals, including therapeutic drugs. The laboratory environment operates under mandatory universal safety precautions.
