Job Description: TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students.

Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences.

Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC.

The Industrial Systems Instructor will deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities for the Technical instructor include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and demonstrated mentoring and teaching students real world applications.

The Technical Instructor will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences. This role acts as an ambassador for their programs and Texas State Technical College and provides tailored and customized workforce development training to client companies.

Technical Instructors at TSTC benefit from a small class capacity, typically ranging between 5 to 20 students, with an average of 10 per class. Courses are structured to include a brief lecture session followed by hands-on laboratory activities, maximizing engagement and practical learning. While on campus, instructors are expected to be available for tutoring, supplementing scheduled teaching requirements and student recruiting events. At TSTC, all technical courses incorporate in-person laboratory tasks. A typical day involves teaching two courses, with instructors potentially managing 3 to 4 courses depending on student enrollment.

Occasionally, instructors may be tasked with additional courses, reflecting fluctuating enrollment demands as well as workforce development instruction. The standard workday spans from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with optional night or weekend commitments. Additionally, opportunities exist to provide extracurricular training for industry professionals.

Preferred Education:

* Bachelor's degree in a closely related teaching discipline

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, Certifications and/or Licensure:

* Working knowledge of basic fluid power (hydraulic and pneumatic) systems

* Working knowledge of basic PLC operation and programming

* Working knowledge of programming electrical speed control systems (AC/DC Drives)

* Working knowledge of basic machining and welding

* Related teaching, training or mentoring experience

Education Required:

* Associate degree in a closely related field and/or demonstrated qualifications in the technology's teaching discipline.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Certifications or Licensure:

* 3-5 years of verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved

* Verifiable work experience with industrial equipment

* Strong Electrical/Programming skills

* Working knowledge of Electrical Motor Control Systems, Electrical Motor Control Schematics, Maintenance of Industrial equipment and Mechanical Power Transmission systems

Job Description:

Instructional Delivery:

Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Develop appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques.

Instructional Management:

Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security where applicable, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.

Student Retention & Placement:

Perform student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information. Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention.

Program Recruitment & Promotion:

Participate in related tours and recruitment events. Assist in department/program planning for recruitment.

Teamwork & Service:

Demonstrate a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers (students, parents, employers, and media), organizational coworkers, and other general public contacts. Maintain flexibility, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate, able to work effectively in a team environment, and be committed to the mission, vision and values of the college. The Target Hiring Range for the position is $ 68,400.91 - $78,661.05

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
